Calmli Privacy Policy
Last updated: 18 October 2026
Calmli is a daily check-in service. Once a day it sends an elderly parent a short WhatsApp message asking how they are, and tells their family member (the "caregiver") the answer. This page explains what personal data Calmli handles, why, and how you can have it deleted. Calmli is currently a small pilot run by Kumar Nenavath in Hyderabad, India.
Who uses Calmli
- Caregivers sign in to the Calmli app (Android, iPhone or the web) with their WhatsApp number and add a parent. A caregiver can invite brothers and sisters, who then follow the same parent.
- Parents do not install anything. They receive WhatsApp messages and tap a button, type a reply, or give a missed call.
- Local contacts (optional) are relatives or neighbours who receive alerts on WhatsApp.
Consent comes first
Before any daily check-in starts, the parent receives a WhatsApp message explaining the service and must tap to agree. If they decline, nothing is sent. A parent can stop at any time by sending STOP on WhatsApp, and restart by sending START.
What we collect
- Caregiver: name and WhatsApp number; an email address if you choose to give one; the time zone of your phone, so times show correctly; and the country of your number, so prices are shown in your currency.
- Parent: name, what the caregiver calls them (e.g. "Amma"), WhatsApp number, preferred language, daily check-in time, and the medicines the caregiver chooses to enter: their names, strength, dose, times of day, whether they are taken before or after food, and any notes.
- Local contact: name, WhatsApp number and language.
- Family members: the WhatsApp number (and name, if given) of each brother or sister a caregiver invites.
- Check-in records: the parent's answers (for example "fine", "not feeling well", medicines taken), the time of each reply, missed calls to the Calmli number, any text the parent sends, and the BP and sugar readings the parent sends.
- Message records: a log of the messages Calmli sends, so we can fix problems.
- Plan and billing records (only if you subscribe): your plan, how often you pay, the state of your subscription and its renewal dates, your invoices (amount, date, status and the invoice link from Razorpay), and the kind of payment method with a short label, such as the card network and its last four digits, or your UPI ID.
Readings and medicine details are health information. We use them only to show the family how the parent is doing and to alert them, and never for advertising.
We do not collect location, contacts lists or photos from your phone. We never see or store your full card number, CVV, UPI PIN or bank password: payments are made on Razorpay's secure checkout. Calmli gives no medical advice and is not an emergency service; in an emergency, call 108.
How we use it
- To send the daily check-in, reminders and medicine reminders to the parent.
- To tell the caregiver and their family (and the local contact, for alerts) how the parent is, including immediate alerts when the parent is unwell, asks for a call, does not reply, sends a reading that may need attention, or mentions something that looks like a scam.
- To show the family each day's status, recent activity, history and health report in the app.
- If a caregiver shares a health report (for example with a doctor), the link works for 7 days and shows the parent's display name, check-ins, medicines and readings. It never shows phone numbers or the parent's messages.
- To run paid plans: start, renew and cancel subscriptions, and show your invoices.
We do not sell personal data, use it for advertising, or share it with anyone except the service providers needed to run Calmli.
Service providers
- WhatsApp (Meta Platforms) delivers the messages, under the WhatsApp Business terms.
- Razorpay processes subscription payments (cards, UPI Autopay and net banking) under its own privacy policy. Calmli receives only the payment status, invoices and the short payment-method label described above.
- Hosting and telephony providers run the Calmli server and the missed-call number.
How long we keep it
Check-in records and message logs are kept while the service is active so the family can see recent history, and old operational logs are cleared regularly. When a caregiver removes a parent in the app, that parent's profile, check-ins, readings, medicines and related records are deleted. Billing records (subscriptions and invoices) are kept for as long as tax and accounting rules require, even after you stop using Calmli.
Your rights and deleting your data
- Parents can send STOP at any time to end check-ins, and can ask for their data to be deleted.
- Caregivers can remove a parent in the app, which deletes that parent's data, and can change or remove their email address at any time.
- Anyone can ask to see, correct or delete their data by emailing the address below. We will respond within 30 days.
Security
Data is sent over encrypted connections. Login codes and session tokens are stored only in hashed form, and access to each parent's data is limited to the caregiver who added them and the family members they invite.
Children
Calmli is meant for adults. Caregivers must be 18 or older.
